Designwerks Media and Me,
This being my first blog post on our new 2.0 website, I wanted it to give insight on the history of our company over the years. Many people ask me about our history and how we have grown the business through the years. I wish I could say it was an easy path and that we have been showered with tons of awards, and lots of money, and gained super powers. The reality is we opened a marketing company in the midst of a recession where no one was spending money. It was some of the hardest times of my life for those first 2 years. I was told though if we managed to survive through it, once it was all over we would be that much more ahead of everyone else just starting. During that process we had to be very creative with our approaches to get new work, we made an effort to maximize our time by doing more with less, we cherished or clients as if they were our only client and made sure we always came through. We found by these simple processes we were able to keep moving forward even if it meant at a snails pace. The knowledge and business sense gained from this was worth its weight in gold.
With every new job came new opportunity. Many of our first clients who started from nothing, 5 years later are massively successful and they continue to grow with us at the same time. We will be putting together case studies in the near future showing this. During this process we realized that businesses were not only looking for a strong brand, but also they wanted to be found. Leads equals sales and sales equals growth and so on. I made it a point to master search! That doesn’t mean reading a how to book or SEO for dummies. I treated it like a science experiment and actually put the knowledge gained into real life scenario’s in web design and internet marketing. Trial and errors, countless hours spent researching the questions why, learning from the pros and at the same time finding my own path has allowed me in my own right become and expert in my field. My first eureka moment was this! SEO was what I understood and the philosophy behind it. Because of our already strong design background in both 2d and 3d and then incorporating SEO, it differentiated us from our competitors in a sense where we built sites that actually worked and not sit and do nothing. Understanding this philosophy and how to use it correctly was our secret sauce. We have grown throughout the years which has allowed us to expand our business into many different areas of the creative field. If you visit our studio today you will see right when you walk in “Creative Studio” instead of branding our name we wanted to brand ourselves since we are the ones that make up the company. We are creatives that are great at what we do in all aspects of the word. I make it a priority for everyone to try something new and learn from one another.
Everyday I have the privilege to work with some of the best designers, developers, animators, and videographers in our field. Our collaborative minds are what makes Designwerks stand apart. We all work on every project and we all have input into putting our best work into every job. Your only as good as your team and I must say I have the best team around! 5 years has past and we are still here, growing, learning, and doing our part in making an impact in the creative world we live in. Here is to the next 5 years!
